Bean and Sorghum Grain Salad – Best Canned Bean Salad Recipe

Canned EDEN PRESSURED Cooked Bean Salad is the most effective and easy way to to prepare quick and easy weeknight/weekend meals in advance. This Canned beans recipe is super quick and easy.  I use EDEN brand canned beans on weekly basis, sometimes twice a week, beans contain lots of fiber polyphenols and protein.

You can cook sorghum on Sundays and keep in airtight container in fridge for few 3-4 days, so during the week you can make this salad in few minutes, just open can of  pressure cooked canned beanswash well cut red onion, cilantro add cooked sorghum season it and its done for your lunch.  Now, pack it and take it to work for lunch 🙂


Are Pressure Cooked Canned Beans Healthy?

Generally,  i would say no to canned beans – but EDEN and Jovial brands they pressure cook their beans and store them in a BPA free can.  Jovial brand stores their beans in glass containers. So you can easily use  eden brand canned beans and have your salads ready in minutes.

Beans are the most important source of plant-based protein and a great replacement of meat.

Beans are source of prebiotic-food , a great source of nutrition for the beneficial bacteria living in the gut.

So, EDEN pressure cooked canned  beans can be used and eden brand is organic non GMO.

Ingredients of

4 Ingredient Lectin Free Bean Salad:

This serving is for 3-4 Individuals

  • 1/2 cup of cooked Sorghum Grain
  • 1 can of EDEN beans
  • 1 cup organic cilantro one big bunch about
  • 1 organic small shallot or red onion
  • For seasoning :
  • Black pepper 1/2 tea spoon
  • Iodized sea salt to taste about 1/2 tea spoon
  • 4 tbl spoon of extra virgin olive oil
  • fresh juice of 1/2 lemon or little more

Important note

Beans must be pressure cooked to avoid lectins-toxins that cause bloating, lots of gas and bad digestion. Please do not use regular canned beans or undercooked beans at home. You can pressure cook beans at home in pressure cooker.

Step by Step Direction of Bean and Sorghum Salad 


Step 1. Sorghum

  • In one big bowl add cooked Sorghum grain
  • If you have sorghum grain ready, It takes 5-8 minutes to make this salad – I prepare my sorghum grain on Sundays, and i cook sorghum grain for 60 min

Step 2. beans

  • Add 1 can of EDEN beans into sorghum

Step 3. Organic cilantro

  • add 1 cup of Organic cilantro one big bunch into sorghum and bean bowl

Step 4. Add red onion

  • Organic small shallot or red onion
  • cut thinly and mix well in the bowl.

In one big bowl combine all 4 ingredients together

Seasoning is very important

  • Add extra virgin olive oil 4 table spoon
  • Half or one lemon juice Squeezed
  • Now sprinkle iodized sea salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Mix all together well and serve.

The recipe is for serving for 3-4 persons.

Pressure cooked canned beans have different and convenient ways to add more nutritional value in the diet.
